Recovery sessions

Kimberly uses multiple recovery modalities, however, her main modality is PNF stretching (Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation). Recovery sessions are 60 minutes.

Percussion therapy for Joint REPLACEMENT recovery and surgery recovery

Percussion therapy is the use of vibration on tissues. The vibrations allow the nerves to relax, and tension to leave the muscles. It increases blood flow and circulation, as well as alleviating stored muscle tension. This is performed with a theragun prior to PNF stretching to ensure the muscles have adequate warmth from blood flow and the muscles are not cold prior to stretching.

Gua sha

I use a large plastic gua sha tool to increase blood flow and circulation prior to stretching. I prefer the gua sha tool to help break down muscles that have excessive muscle tone and stubborn adhesions and scar tissue.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique that dates back to the BC era, and is heavily used in multiple, diverse cultures. Cupping increases blood flow and circulation, alleviates muscle tension, and allows muscles that are limited in range of motion to further stretch while the cups are placed on the muscles. This is performed prior to PNF and or used in assistance with PNF.

Corrective exercise for injury recovery and surgery recovery

Corrective exercise is performed after the table work is completed. This includes calisthenics, active stretches, isometrics, and resistance band exercises. The point of corrective exercise is to further the results in terms of range of motion for muscles and joints, as well as loading positive muscle tension back into the muscles to reestablish movement patterns, and to activate and strengthen muscles for protection and alleviating muscle pain from atrophy.

PVC pipe training

Mobility training performed after a recovery session to enhance results, as well as before a training session to prepare for the workout.

Normatec compression pants

Compression therapy increases blood flow and circulation, as well as flushing excess water into the lymphatic system to balance fluid retention. Compression therapy is good for people who lack movement in limbs, neuropathy patients, as well as general muscle soreness. Compression therapy is appreciated by endurance athletes.

Foam rolling for injury recovery and surgery recovery

This is a practice that is taught in the beginning of the session so the client can alleviate muscle tension and increase blood flow outside of the sessions. This is taught to allow the client to maintain their results from the sessions, as well as improving their issues independently.

Reiki

Reiki is an energy healing practice that originates from Japan and was created by Mikao Usui. Reiki stands for universal life force energy. The energy can help to move through the patient, either opening chakras that are blocked, and/or helping to restore the balance in the chakras if they are too active.

What are Chakras?

Chakras include the crown (the head), which corresponds to the pineal gland; this relates to our spirituality, and is the seventh chakra. The sixth chakra is the third eye chakra, which corresponds to our pituitary gland and pineal. The third eye is connected to our intuition. The fifth chakra is our throat chakra, which corresponds to the thyroid gland. Our heart is the fourth chakra. Our solar plexus is the third chakra. The heart corresponds to love, while the solar plexus is relating to our personal power. Lastly, we have the sacral chakra which corresponds to the sacroiliac joint. This chakra reveals joy, pleasure, and our sexuality. The last chakra is the root chakra, corresponding to our sex organs; this is responsible for how safe we feel in the world. The reiki energy can help each chakra and understand possible health issues the client might be experiencing. For example, if the throat chakra is blocked, the person might not be speaking their truth and potentially suffer from thyroid issues.
